Client Overview
The African Women’s Cancer Awareness Association (AWCAA) empowers African immigrant women and their families through cancer education, early detection, and support services. Proceeds from the Ladies First event directly fund screenings, health education programs, patient navigation, and survivorship initiatives.
The Challenge
AWCAA wanted to grow the impact of its signature fundraiser, Ladies First. In 2019, the event was fully in-person in Atlanta. In 2020, the pandemic required a pivot — the organization needed to design its first hybrid event while still meeting a $25,000 fundraising goal and community engagement.
The Solution
We partnered with AWCAA to deliver a strategy that maximized community impact and sponsorship value across both years:
-
Event Strategy & Planning – built experiences tailored to survivors and community members.
-
Sponsorship Development & Activation – secured and activated sponsorships, including media partnerships and branded experiences.
-
Hybrid Event Design – created an engaging dual-format event with livestreaming and virtual participation.
-
Onsite Event Management – ensured seamless execution both in Atlanta and online.
The Results
-
$25,000+ raised — surpassing fundraising goals even in a hybrid year.
-
Expanded community impact — connected survivors, press, healthcare professionals, and community members in-person and virtually.
-
Increased sponsor visibility — delivered branded activations such as custom apparel and leveraged media sponsorships to boost attendance.
